The rainy season is here in beautiful Playa Popoyo, and with it comes some of our favorite surf conditions of the year. We wanted to give you a heads-up on what’s happening over the next couple of months.
Rainy Season = Rivermouth Magic
With the rains starting to flow, rivermouths are opening up and reshaping our local beach breaks. That means more dynamic sandbars and fun peaks across the coast.
Best part? Less people in the lineup — epic surf, without the crowds.
Swell on the Rise
The southern hemisphere is pumping out consistent and bigger swells, with clean long-period energy lighting up our favorite spots. Outer reefs are holding solid size, and the beach breaks are offering up barrels and open faces. Bring your step-up — you’ll need it!
Glassy Mornings & Warm Waters
Winds have been super light with glassy mornings and buttery conditions. Even the occasional rain showers in the evening can’t dampen the stoke — the water’s still tropical and clear, and the sunsets? Unreal.
Bonus: Fishing Season is On
It’s not just about the waves. This time of year also kicks off prime fishing for dorado and sailfish. If you’re into casting lines between surf sessions, now’s the time to reel in something special.
